flight options & route

flight options

When it comes to getting that magical ticket you may be hit with a multitude of options... believe me, there are many - RTW tickets, one way flights, return flights, cheap flights from 'bucket shops', courier options... the list is practically endless.

have a think about what you are travelling for and where you are going. If a round-the-world trip is your goal and you're on a fixed('ish) timescale, then a RTW ticket is probably the way to go. If you are just heading to SE Asia and fancy taking in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos then a return to Bangkok is sufficient as local flight are dirt cheap (if you need them, I guarantee you wont). Speak to a good RTW travel specialist (I used Travel Nation [http://www.travel-nation.co.uk] who were superb) and you will be surprised at the options available to you.

A quick word about round-the-world tickets...

They are probably the best, and safest option for travelling the world. They are extremely flexible and don't tie you down. If like me your plans keep altering and you want to stay longer or move on earlier, you can phone, up to 24 hours before the flight, and change your departure date.

Round-the-world tickets, consider...

1. Here in the UK, flights are cheaper than in most other countries.

2. A round-the-world ticket is proof at borders that you are passing through their country and not planning to stay indefinitely.

3. If you are flying 10,000 miles to the other side of the world, why not see the rest enroute? stop-over on a RTW tickets are dead cheap (maybe even free!), so bear it in mind.

So...

Round-the-world tickets: the BIG thumbs-up, especially for the first time.
