worldtrip what's next

that's a very good question.... so, what really is next for me?!

well... as you can well imagine, 2 years of travelling has taken a serious toll on the finances! so it is going to be a case of placing my two feet firmly on the ground for a while - well, until the bank manager and me are on better speaking terms. i doubt i'll be receiving a christmas card this year from him!

Sinead, having returned from travelling also, is planning on moving over to the UK very soon so we can be together again. that's not to say our travelling days are all over.... OH NO!!! the world is such a big place and we've both only seen a very small part. i personally fancy having a trip around south america and i know we both fancy going back to china one day.

i think the immediate future for us means working for a couple of years and then, who knows?! probably a move outside the UK?! maybe a period of working overseas?! another RTW trip (albeit on a smaller scale)?! i guess things will work themselves out.

all i can say is this.... when i think back to when i left my home and family to start my adventure, it all seemed so very daunting. the world and what i was planning seemed enormous!...

...being back is even MORE daunting... i think most people who have spend such a period away from 'a normal life' will agree, it's hard to get back into the swing of things. days which seemed full of adventure and without care or worry now seem boring, repetitive and drab. the friends i had have all but gone, lost over the years due to lack of contact (mainly on my part). the thought of me getting up for work at 5:00am tomorrow breaks my heart makes me long to be away again.

now that the travel bug has imbedded itself into my soul i doubt i will ever be able to shake it out fully... whether this is a good thing or not i'll let you decide.

the world is a massive place, full of such wonderment and beauty. it would be a real shame not to see that little bit more, don't you think?
